Memory: The Isley Crawfish Festival
Earned: Mira's Elevator Game
Form: A cluster of apples (3/3 uses)
So, Velma Martinez is in her 'normal life' phase, and is driving her shitty used car up to Portland for a job interview. Unfortunately, she gets lost and ends up in Isley. And then her car gets towed when she pulls over to ask for directions.
The chief of police refuses to return her car until after the festival, so Velma is pretty irate and worried, because she is going to miss her interview and she needs the money. Eventually she decides that she's had enough festival and goes to yell at the chief some more when she runs into David "The Claw" Mickelstein, a teammate from her Junior Super Patriot days. Velma's all "David, small world, what the hell are you doing in this shithole town?" David is all "Long story, why don't you go get some coffee for an hour or two?"
Then the crawfish invade the town and start fighting back, mostly by pinching toes. Apparently this was The Claw's break into supervillainy. The Claw attempts to knock Velma out, on the basis that she's the only other person with superpowers in town limits.
Vel is not knocked out. Vel is pissed. Vel has very good reasons to not use her powers in public, but she can't be bothered to remember them now. So she borrows the toys from the midway -- not to mention a boucy castle shaped like a bear -- and goes to kick The Claw's chitinous ass.
Velma gets her car back, a tank of gas, directions, and the promise to not speak of the events from the startled townspeople, and heads on her merry way.
What Joy Learned
So, Joy gets an infodump on David/The Claw -- he's another former kid superhero, who got his powers by Mad Science. Unfortunately his powers are being half-lobster and talking to crustaceans. And he's not so much being villainous as making a desperate cry for attention. Of course, he was probably hoping for a bit longer to terrorize Isley.
Joy can also guess the chronology, since she's not an active super here, and is clearly trying to keep a low profile. Joy won't know why she's keeping a low profile when she has plenty of memories of not, though. Portland figures, and Joy knows she makes it there, but somehow she doesn't think she's interviewing for the superhero job she remembers working there.
This is also the first mention of Joy's real first name, Velma.
Results
+ Solving problems with violence.
+ Expectations of villainy.
