Memories #34-37

Memory #34: Sparkle Bright can take care of herself.
Form: arrow (4/5)
So, Vel, Jackie, Princess, and Torrey are trapped in a haunted house. In themed lingerie. Without powers. (Damn reality-manipulators.) They have armed themselves and are heading towards where the screaming has stopped. Torey was pissed at the delay.
They find their assailant, who looks like a horror-movie killer. Being choked by Sparkle Bright using barbed wire. So they intervene to end the fight. Vel figures out what to do with their unconscious would-be slasher. Also how to explain to Sparks that Torrey's awkwardness is a 'seeing crush in lingerie', not dislike. Jackie sums it up neatly.
Velma points out that he should send them home, and that technically Princess is the only one still in good graces... and she's going to go clean elsewhere while they have a nice long chat. They settle for telling the teenaged reality-manipulator that if he ever involves other people in his games again, she will find him.
Of course they end up in downtown Portland, still in lingerie. Damn reality-manipulators.
Memory #35: Vel needs more guest rooms and fewer refugee friends .
Form: a rose made out of edible gold flakes (3/4)
Vel is talking to Jackie, asking her to let Yelena stay with her, in the middle of the night. Vel's guest room is full, and Yelena is allergic to pollen so Princess isn't an option. Vel is invoking 'Santa said I can ask the North Pole for help whenever'. Jackie is unhappy, and Yelena is skeptical, but Yelena will be brainwashed if she goes home.
Memory #36: Starting to date Aaron/Action Dude.
Form: a pair of gloves
She was at a funeral for a teenaged superhero named Diva. Who doesn't even get to be buried under her own name, because the law protects her mundane identity even after death. It was a media circus and she hated it, so she went off to sulk near the crypt of one of the first superheroes. Action Dude met her, and they started kissing, and revealed they both had things for one another.
Memory #37: Recruiting toys
Form: a box (6/7)
She visited a Goodwill in Portland. The staff was all 'break time!' and left her alone to visit the children's section. Vel made a speech to the toys, basically saying 'you'll take care of kids, and I'll take care of you as long as I can, but you'll probably die in service'. All of them animate, and some climb down and join her. Vel finds a cashier in the break room and asks them to bill the city.
This cements Joy's belief that a lot of her power is entwined with her belief. If toys are alive, you have to give them a choice.
