That's all we know about Princess and Vel's (presumed) first meeting. So some headcanon.
Vel left the Super Patriots at eighteen and couldn't go home, so she had to set up living arrangements quick in a shitty little apartment, find temp work, and start trying to get real-world skills. It really sucked, and she was pretty lonely and banned from using her powers outside the house.
Princess, meanwhile, is both famous and openly unaffiliated with The Super Patriots Inc. (Disney has her back). So she just breezes in with woodland creatures and a southern accent and tries to make friends. And bake a cake when Vel had nothing but ramen noodles and take-out in the kitchen. Which.., apparently Princess's power-set does not give her domestic skills. Still, Vel had gone through a pretty miserable year or two with her best friend hating her guts and her boyfriend broken up with her and publicly dating said best friend, and Jackie probably unable to talk much while Vel was on the compound... so someone trying so hard to make her happy and make her feel special with no ulterior motive made her feel so much better.
"Because in my timeline, [Sparkle Bright]'s the co-leader of The Super Patriots, West Coast Division, and I'm the one they called a supervillain for quitting. That's why we're friends. You thought they'd treated me poorly, and so you came to make sure that I was okay. You brought a whole bunch of rabbits that first time, so I'd feel comfortable. You baked me a sour cream cake." Velveteen stopped, then added, "It tasted like charcoal, but it was the first time anyone had cared enough to try, and so I ate every bite."
